The Challenge
“God will protect.” “God will provide.”
These are the words that carry the Nigerian people through uncertainty. Every day, we push through economic hardship and unpredictability, relying on belief and grit to stay afloat. Yet, few talk about what happens when life hits harder than hope can carry.
For most, insurance feels distant, complicated, even unnecessary. It is often remembered only after loss, rarely before it. Conversations around protection are replaced with prayers for survival. In the chaos of daily hustle, planning for tomorrow feels like a luxury reserved for the privileged.
Leadway Assurance understood this reality. For over 50 years, they had honoured their promises, paid claims faithfully, and earned the trust of Nigerians. Still, the numbers revealed a deeper truth: insurance penetration in Nigeria remained below one percent. In a nation of resilient and inventive hustlers, insurance was not rejected, it was simply unbelieved.
The challenge was clear:
How do you sell protection in a culture that believes only in providence?
— How do you show that being covered is not a lack of faith, but an act of wisdom? The Strategy
We turned to the language of the streets: to See Finish.
A phrase that cuts deep in Nigerian parlance, See Finish describes that moment when hardship exposes a person to ridicule. It’s raw, familiar, and emotional; and in that emotion lay the bridge between culture and conversation.
Our idea: turn “See Finish” from slang into symbol.
We would make Nigerians confront it, talk about it, and ultimately find the solution in Leadway’s Family Benefit Plan Plus, the product designed to ensure no one’s dignity is left uncovered.
