The Challenge
One Medium post changed everything.
Gokada’s CEO shared an honest reflection about using his own service. It was meant to spark internal improvement. Instead, the internet twisted it into a story of decline. Headlines spiraled. Commentaries exaggerated. Competitors amplified the noise.
Within days, Lagos believed Gokada had stumbled beyond recovery. The temporary shutdown looked like an exit. Trust thinned. Customers hesitated. The streets began rewriting Gokada’s story in real time.
The brand was losing control of its own narrative.
To survive, Gokada needed a reset powerful enough to shift public perception, reclaim authority, and calm a market on edge.
The Strategy
We approached the crisis with one principle: own the truth before the noise owns you.
Our strategy unfolded in three movements.
First, we dismantled every rumour with clear, public-facing communication that answered the questions Lagosians were already whispering. No corporate shields. No evasive language. Just honesty designed for the streets and the screens.
Next, we reframed the moment as a rebirth. Gokada 2.0 became our vehicle for reinvention: upgraded bikes, improved safety intelligence, stronger pilot training, and a new operational culture built to inspire confidence.
Finally, we brought the media into the room. Not to spin, but to witness. The critics, the skeptics, the commentators, they all met the riders, tested the bikes, and heard the story directly from leadership.
Transparency became strategy. Reinvention became narrative.
Trust became the new currency.
